How to make Polylang put translations in subdirectories (VERY IMPORTANT SETTING)

Go to:

WordPress Dashboard → Languages → Settings

Now look for this option:

“The language is set from the directory name in pretty permalinks”

Turn this ON. ✔

This one setting tells Polylang:

• English = trendsvila.com/
• Dutch = trendsvila.com/nl/
• German = trendsvila.com/de/

Without this, Polylang will put all languages on the main domain — exactly the issue you just mentioned.
